Brian Powell is a photographer, musician, and software developer based in Austin, Texas.

He is a founding member of Artists for Austin, an organization dedicated to creating opportunities for artists to make a difference in the Austin community.

Brian has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Brian specializes in wildlife and nature photography. He has studied under photographers Bob Krist, Arthur Morris, Kerrick James, Larry Ditto, Michael Frye, Rod Barbee, and David Middleton. He is a member of the North American Nature Photography Association. Brian was an editorial reviewer for Arthur Morris’ book “The Art of Bird Photography II“.

Brian is also a classical percussionist, specializing in tympani. He has worked under the batons of Morton Gould, Keith Brion, Akira Endo, Thomas Lee, Thomas Pavlechko, Jerry Junkin, and others. He has been a guest performer with the Austin Horn Ensemble, the Austin Symphonic Band, and the Austin Wind Symphony. He has performed at a variety of classical music venues around Austin, including the Long Center for the Performing ArtsParamount Theatre, Bass Concert Hall, and the KLRU Studios.
